Discover the fascinating world of bats as they emerge from their roosts at dusk. We will try to pick up their echolocation calls using electronic handheld detectors!

About the Event
As the light fades, bats leave their roosts and hunt for moths, mosquitoes and midges 🦇🦟 Join me for a walk at dusk to discover the bats that roost in Chichester. Using handheld bat detectors, we'll hear them echo-locating as they flit through the trees. (I can't guarantee whether we'll see many bats - this is dependent on the weather conditions and where they are foraging!) But we can discuss their ecology, lifecycle, breeding and behaviour.
Every workshop has up to eight attendees and is held in an informal, friendly atmosphere for the best learning experience. This event is suitable for everyone. Dogs welcome and children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
How to get there: We will meet at 8:10pm by the statue of the Roman goddess Minerva who is perched on a bench directly outside the entrance of the Minerva Theatre, PO19 6AP (click here for a map).
How to book: Select the number of attendees below and pay online. Or email me imprintecology@gmail.com to book your space and pay via bank transfer.
What to bring: Sturdy boots, torch with a red light (red lights are kinder for bats - bike lights are great!), warm clothing, water, hand sanitiser, and a bat detector if you've got one!
What if it rains? The event will be rescheduled and you will be notified 24 hours before via email.
About the tutor: Hi, I'm Emily. I'm a freelance ecologist, I work for Bumblebee Conservation Trust and hold a BSc in Wildlife Conservation and a post-grad certificate in Ecological Consultancy. I began teaching wildlife workshops in 2019 and my approach has always been fun, informal and effective for students who wish to foster a deeper connection with nature. I am a friendly and welcoming teacher who loves to share my passion for nature through engaging, outdoor learning.
