Rural Search Skills Day
A day of rural searches where we have the option to work in two different locations. All levels welcome, but to get the most from this day your dog should have an indication or desire to hunt for a toy.
Time & Location
11 Feb 2022, 10:00 – 15:00
Birdham, Chichester PO20 7HG
About the Event
Inspire your dog's hunt drive to search with you in large, open areas! Ideal for dogs who are already on odour with an indication but searching for a toy/food is fine too. No prior rural detection experience needed.
We'll work on how to build up your dog's confidence to search rural areas and how you should plan and approach these types of searches with them. Body language is key so we will be looking at handler movement and timing. I can put out clove, gun oil, or if you would like to search for something different just bring it along with you.
Locations: we are very lucky to have two locations for this workshop day! We'll start in Birdham at 10am. Lunchbreak 12pm - 12:45pm, during this time we will drive to Sidlesham 10 minutes away and continue until 3pm.
BIRDHAM HAS LIVESTOCK PRESENT IN ADJACENT FIELD. There is a small, friendly herd of Sussex red cattle in the adjacent field in Birdham. The cows usually clear off to the far corner when they see me and then you can hardly see them. There is a fence between us but it is NOT fully dog-proof. If your dog is likely to find this distracting then please let me know because this might not be the workshop for you. You can bring or borrow a long line if you wish!
£60 per handler place.
Important details for the venue parking and directions will be sent in the confirmation email once you have booked on. Please let me know if you do not recieve this email. (Check junk mail just in case!)
